‘Fame Academy’ champ Alex Parks lashed out at t.A.T.u. duo Lena Katina and Julia Volkova for pretending to be lesbians. “It is insulting to see t.A.T.u. acting the way they do,” the openly lesbian singer told the Daily Star. “It feels like they’re trying to make a bit of a joke out of being a lesbian. It’s sad. If their music was any good then it might help, but their latest record sounds exactly like their previous one.”
Charlotte Church’s habit of insulting her pop rivals has gotten her in trouble with t.A.T.u.’s Lena Katina, according to The Daily Star. After Church claimed the faux lesbian duo “just sound real sh**”, adding that “on of them’s a minger as well” and that ‘All About Us’ was “awful,” Katina responded, “I will murder her. She should come to Moscow and then I will shoot her in the head just like in our video. No one has heard of her in my country – yet where she lives, everyone knows who we are. She must be very careful with her big mouth because bad things can happen to people.”
Blender caught up with t.A.T.u. singer Lena Katina, who says their new album ‘Dangerous and Moving’ inspired a new work ethic in the studio. “We did it mostly ourselves,” Lena Katina contended. When asked if they wrote the songs, she admitted, “No.” Did they play the instruments? “No.” Did they produce the album? “No.” As for the critics who think their time has passed, Katina said, “Frankly speaking, I don’t give a sh**.” But what can she say about the new album? “It’s difficult,” she said. “If you really want to get into it, you could spend hours talking about this album.”
I’ve never been a t.A.T.u. fan ever! ‘All The Things She Said’ is okay but other than that, they never really crossed my mind. My mate brought me along to see them at the G-A-Y club. At first, I didn’t want to go but I decided ‘what the hell?’ I went there and it was pretty cool! Drunk, sober, crazy, mellow people everywhere! It was a cool environment. Then they announced t.A.T.u. on the stage and a bunch of people got very excited! They came out and sung their new single ‘All About Us’ live and it was great!…
Lena Katina spoke with Billboard about t.A.T.u.’s new single ‘All About Us’, from their upcoming album ‘Dangerous and Moving,’ due October 11th. “Our first video was about to love between two girls,” said Katina. “We do not pretend to be lesbians — we’ve never said we were. Julia (Volkova) just had a baby and currently has a girlfriend, and we’ve both always had boyfriends. We share a special bond.”
The censored and streaming version of t.A.T.u.’s new video ‘All About Us’ is out. The clip is about 20 seconds shorter than the uncensored version and removes some of the more violent scenes of Julia Volkova’s assault, showing bandmate Lena Katina singing instead. They also blacked out the shooting and blood spatter. Watch it via MySpace below.
