The Sun reports Katya Nechaeva has been drafted in for the t.A.T.u.’s appearance in Saturday’s Eurovision Song Contest to do backing vocals. Julia Volkova has acute damage to her vocal chords, but will still sing live in the contest. Nechaeva said, “Ivan says I should be like a Lolita. May 15, 2003 – GMTV presenter Lorraine Kelly has branded t.A.T.u.’s lesbian act as insulting and sad. Kelly told Teletext, “The whole thing is so transparent, and they’re just ripping off someone’s lifestyle to sell records. It’s a bit sad.”
Tatu Video Shoot A ‘Publicity Stunt’
May 7, 2003 – Radio 1 reports that fans of t.A.T.u. are accusing the lesbian duo of pulling a publicity stunt after they were turned away from a video shoot which they were invited to by the singers. The two appealed for girls to dress in school uniform and come along to the shoot on Westminster Bridge in London the other day, but people were turned away by a camerawoman who said the session had been called off by police.
Teasing Tatu In Embrace For Fans
May 6, 2003 – About 350 fans watched t.A.T.u. mime to two songs during an appearance at the HMV store in London’s Oxford Circus which ended with a hug and a kiss for the pair’s only UK appearance. Lena Katina told fans, “Tomorrow we will shoot our video and we want to invite all the girls 16 years and over and who are not at school to wear their school uniform.”
Julia Volkova And Pals At Sketch Club
May 2, 2003 – Julia Volkova of t.A.T.u. was pictured out at the Sketch Club in London recently with some pals, but not with bandmate Lena Katina. The duo was to perform at Wembley Arena but was cancelled allegedly because one of the girls is ill.
