Was Joe Jackson Shameless For Touting Record Label?
July 3, 2009 – Journalist and TheRoot.com blogger Jimi Izraeli tells CNN ‘American Morning’ host Kiran Chetry why he thinks Michael Jackson’s father Joe is shameless after touting his new record label days after his son’s death.
“On theroot.com, the piece has gotten as of now about 813 comments,” Izraeli said of his commentary. “And about a quarter of those, you know, people didn’t agree with me and accused me of being just another white man, shilling for the white man and who couldn’t understand the pain that obviously black people go through. And I’ve got to tell you, it’s hard out here for a white man.” Video of the interview at Turner.com has since been removed.
Barack Obama Reflects On Michael Jackson
July 3, 2009 – U.S. President Barack Obama says Michael Jackson will go down in history as one of our greatest entertainers. “I think that his brilliance as a performer also was paired with a tragic and, in many ways, sad personal life,” Obama said. “I’m glad to see that he is being remembered primarily for the great joy that he brought to a lot of people through his extraordinary gifts as an entertainer.” The President added that he grew up on the late King of Pop’s music and has a lot of Jackson’s music on his iPod.
