The Sun has issued an apology to Cameron Diaz on Monday for reporting on its front page in May she snogged a married man. “On 12 May 2005 we published on our front page an allegation, originally made in an American magazine, that actress Cameron Diaz had been caught during a ‘three-minute snog’ with a married film producer, whilst her partner Justin Timberlake was preparing to enter hospital the next day for a throat operation,” the paper said. “In fact, we have been informed and fully accept, that the relevant incident involved no more than Ms Diaz giving a friend a goodbye hug and accept there is no question of a romantic relationship. We are happy to correct the position and sincerely apologize to Ms Diaz for the distress caused.” Diaz’s suit against the American magazine who origally published the story, the National Enquirer, is still pending.
