The Sunday Mirror reports TV bosses are delaying the second series of Pop Idol for fear it could flop. Auditions were supposed to start in the summer were then delayed to next month – and have now been scrapped until next year. An industry source says the move could bode well for Pop Idol winners Will Young and runner up Gareth Gates. “The longer the next show is postponed the better for Will and Gareth to get established in their own right,” the source said.
