Us Weekly west coast editor Ken Baker spoke with ‘Showbiz Tonight’ on Friday (January 4) about what the mag had learned regarding Britney Spears being held at a Los Angeles hospital for observation. “Well, what we’re told is that she didn’t want to go to the hospital,” Baker said. “It was determined by the authorities that she needed to go to the hospital. She needed to be checked out, that she wasn’t of sound mind. And indeed, they took her down to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and as we said, she got there a little bit before midnight and has been there ever since. We expected her to be there at least 72 hours. Why? Because she is considered as a special needs patient. She is totally being observed. She is under psychiatric evaluation. And she did not want to be there. Now, there may be deep-seated psychological reasons why maybe she did want to be there, some cry for help. But consciously, no; Britney Spears did not want to go. But I’m told not only was she smiling and then laughing and then looking sad and confused. It was just described by someone who was there who told us that she was absolutely, completely psychotic looking. So it just really was a disturbing scene last night.” Spears ended up being held about half that expected 72 hour time. Watch the clip below.
