Vanessa Carlton Faced Early Days Of Being Pushed To Be Britney

Vanessa Carlton talked about her early days to Jim Farber of the New York Daily News. Carlton’s efforts to three years ago to get a record deal were met with offers that she didn’t have much interest in. “They’d say, ‘Can you dance around like Britney Spears? Do you really need to play the piano yourself? And do you have to write your own material?’” the now 21-year-old artist recalls with a sigh. “I’d turn around, walk out and not look back.”
