Vanessa Carlton Has Her Head Screwed On Straight

Steve Morse of the Boston Globe spoke with Vanessa Carlton who played last night’s KISS concert at the Tweeter Center. ”This has definitely been a journey,” Carlton says. ”I take it one day at a time. And I’m never surprised when things don’t go my way. I have my head screwed on straight.” Part of that journey was getting turned down left and right by record labels before finally landing with A&M three years ago. “The labels kept saying, ‘We’re in the middle of a Britney Spears storm, so why should we sign you?’”
