VH1’s Greatest 100 Songs From The Past 25 Years

VH1 has compiled a list of what they feel are the 100 greatest songs from the past 25 years and honors them by saying, “From hip-hop to teen pop, grunge to heavy metal, music in the last two and half decades has been unpredictable and unforgettable. VH1 will pay tribute to the very best.” Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ rightfully takes the #1 spot. Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ takes #2. Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ comes in at #4. Britney Spears’ ‘Baby One More Time’ is at #28. Backstreet Boys’ ‘I Want it That Way’ comes in at #61. Soft Cell’s ‘Tainted Love’ comes in at #82. Songs by TLC, Def Leppard, No Doubt, Public Enemy, Aerosmith, Alicia Keys, Shania Twain, Journey, Marvin Gaye, Nelly, Notorious B.I.G., Dave Matthews Band, Metallica, Outkast, Beastie Boys, Oasis, and Hanson, also make the list. The 5-part show will feature testimonies by Prince, U2, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Guns N Roses, Britney Spears and Run-DMC, all of whom have songs on the list.
