VMAs Become A Britney Spears Pity Party
Malcolm Venable of The Virginian-Pilot is wondering how Britney Spears went from bombing during her performance of ‘Gimme More’ last year at the MTV Video Music Awards only to have this year’s show “basically handed to her as a love letter?” Venable writes, “She opens the show, then goes on to win three awards for the album’s most boring song/mediocre video? I see some hanging chad… I’m glad she’s pulled herself back together, but I don’t think a rich girl simply coming back from the brink of insanity is cause for a ticker tape parade, especially when there are loads more equally talented and less-skanky girls out there working just as hard.” Read more.
