Good Charlotte rocker and Charles County native Joel Madden said Thursday that comments made by his girlfriend, movie starlet Hilary Duff, about Waldorf being “pretty ghetto” were taken out of context. “I don’t even know where [the comments] came from,” Madden told The Maryland Independent. “In my business, I guess people try to take anything you say and try to make something out of it.” Meanwhile, Duff issued a statement on the controversy. “I never said any of those negative words regarding Joel’s hometown of Waldorf, Maryland,” Duff was quoted as saying. “I’m looking forward to visiting Waldorf as Joel loves the town and calls it a historical and special place.
