We Should Relate To Britney Spears, Not Criticize Her

Brandon Tucker of The Indiana Digital Student spoke out on how he’s grown up with Britney Spears, reviewing her new album ‘In The Zone’ in the process. Tucker writes, “Today, opinions about Britney are mostly divided into two categories. The first is she can’t sing, is a slut and her music sucks. The rest say, ‘she can’t sing, but she can dance, is sexy and her songs are decent.’ At the tender age of 21, Britney, just like anyone her age, is facing a small identity crisis and is having a pretty good time doing it as she contemplates her next move into adulthood. Perhaps instead of criticizing her, we, facing the same issues on a much more personal scale, should relate to her.” Read more.

I read this yesterday somewhere else. I really liked it. It was completely praising Britney, but it made some good points I really agreed with. People always overlook the fact that she is only 21…and I’m glad someone made sure to mention it.

I have spent the last week reading up on anything and everything Britney. I have to say, I do relate to her in a lot of ways. Some of the things she say are really out there and just not smart, but a lot of what she says is really taken out of context. Like that little bitter remark that they’re trying to say she was talking about Justin’s manhood, she wasn’t.

“The first is she can’t sing, is a slut and her music sucks. ” didn’t need to read any more than that. I can’t relate to a retarded ugly little fool who acts like a 10 year old. I’ll leave that to her fans.

How someone can relate to her (whether 21 or not) is a personal thing that not everyone can just relate. Just because she’s 21 doesn’t mean that people her age or close to her age can relate to her, and it doesn’t mean we have to. We can’t all relate to her in a personal way. I feel that I can relate to Madonna in many ways, and she’s in her 40’s. But I do agree that many people and the media are overlooking the fact that Britney is just 21, she’s going through most issues that girls of all ages go through all the time, and calling her a “slut” and “ho” is ridiculous- she isn’t that raunchy and sexy compared to some artist that have done much more than she had.

I really do hate to name drop but Britney doesn’t date nearly as much as J-Love, but I never hear anyone calling her a ho or slut. Maybe it’s because of the Fred Durst thing, sorry but I would have lied about him too. No I just wouldn’t have been with him, he’s nasty. Personally don’t think of any of these women as sluts or ho’s, whether it’s Britney, Xtina, J-love, J-lo or any of them. We all date, just because you date someone doesn’t mean your having sex with them. And if they are, so what we all have sex.

  6. jazzprofounder says:

I agree with you. May I also add that sex doesn’t have to be the emphasis of anything when it comes to dating. I don’t think Britney, Xtina, J-Lo, whoever aren’t “sluts” and “ho’s”. We don’t know these people personally, we don’t know what goes on behind closed doors or how many sex partners they had. That’s why I don’t judge them at that level, it’s just too ridiculous and stupid.

So what is she trying to say here? That even thou people think she can’t sing she’s still a singer or an artist just cause of her teachable dance moves?

Britney is a great actress, crying to Diane Sawyer, yeah right. Only thing Brit’s got going for her are her looks, everything else is nothing to die over. I’m tired of her copying Madonna and pining for men who are in relationships. She needs to grow up and have some decency.

I personally think she can sing(not the best nor the worse), she can dance, she is sexy and her songs are awesome.. Other than that, I agree 100%.

^^I kinda agree with you. Brit does need to stop pining for attached guys. There are several great guys who don’t have girlfriends. Look at Shawn William Scott or Chad Michael Murray (he’s 21 and gorgeous). I think she lonely and wants a relationship, but then again she can’t date without being called a slut or ho. Side note: I like Britney’s voice, it’s very pleasant and sexy.
