What Criss Angel Had Planned For Britney’s VMA Performance
Criss Angel visited ‘Last Call with Carson Daly’ on Tuesday night, were the ‘Mind Freak’ and ‘Phenomenon’ star discussed the scuttled plan to help Britney Spears with her ‘Gimme More’ performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. “They loved the concepts that I presented,” Angel said. “It was gonna be, you know, Britney on stage. And I was gonna create illusions of her splitting into two Britneys and then four. And then you wouldn’t know who was the real Britney. And then I had her turning into, morphing into some bird and reappearing in the audience, some crazy stuff. The thing was – and not to be disrespectful to Britney. But she just wanted to go in a different direction. And I said, look, this is important to you, best to be you. And she chose to do what she did. And, you know, it’s really hard for her to have a life because she’s so under the microscope. So, at the end of the day, I just wished her the best and I just want her to be happy.”
