What Is Wrong With America?
Ok, after reading this site for months I have so much to say my head could burst. Instead I will say my piece and let it be done. I come here, because it’s a quick way to keep track of whets going on with music and TV performances, etc, and since I’m in college I miss a lot of that stuff and like to be able to see it. What I think is really sad though is when you guys sit here and argue over which artist is better, who is a GOD and who is a @##@, and who sucks. Who cares!? Everything is an opinion people, and yes, you are entitled to it, but when you have an opinion like “Christina sucks” then aren’t you saying that it’s not okay for someone else to like her? Can’t you just say something like “Not my type of music” or “Not my type of person”?
When you try to sway someone’s opinion by attacking them, you’re taking away the right they have to an opinion, and not only that, but you’re abusing your own right to one. An opinion is a personal feeling toward something. I can’t even finish this little rant without being hypocritical.
Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is, its fine to think what you want and like what you want, but unless you want to be just like Hitler, stop going around and trying to stuff your thoughts on everyone else. They’re right for you, you only, nobody else, except you, got it?
Today I read a comment on a Nelly article “I think I’m speaking for everyone here when I say who cares?” Well, apparently you do, if you took the time to type it out. People don’t care about people like her because they don’t survive on controversy. They don’t need to bare all their sheets to the wind to be the MOST TALKED ABOUT CELEB OF 2001 AND 2002 AND 2003 and probably 04 and 05.
Then I read the article that said Britney is a legend, and a God and ya-de-da. So what. Yes, she’s a legend, I don’t even really like her as a person, but I enjoy a limited some of her music and I wont say she’s ugly, because she isn’t. Nobody is. But I wouldn’t worship her. I wouldn’t spend all my time trying to defend her online because there’s a whole lot of defending that’d need to be done, and she’s big enough to know better than to pay attention to what everyone says about her. Some people will like her, some people won’t, if you do, go buy her CD, and some posters, and a GYM bag, and a soda, and anything else with her name on it. Listen to her CD and run around screaming I love Britney, but don’t go trying to cram her down the throats of people who don’t like her. The reason they don’t make CDs and then come to your house and put them in your CD player, hit repeat, turn the volume up, glue the buttons into place and then run is because it’s a CHOICE. Welcome to America, we get those things here, remember?
And so the Christina people don’t start slamming me, she’s alright too. She has a great voice, she’s different, but sexuality and ‘edge’ don’t have to be hand in hand, she doesn’t have to talk flack about other people although I had to agree with a lot in the Maxim article where she talked about Britney being lost. I’m a bigger fan of neither, but Britney is a role model even if she doesn’t want to be seen as one. People look at her and see a girl who has it all. Same with Christina, or Mandy Moore, but nobody stops to think, these girls gave up a normal life to do what they do. They missed regular school (which sucks but now that I’m out I miss it sometimes), simple things like prom, and dating, and knowing guys like you for you and not just money. They give up the ability to just trust people from the get go, to be able to go get a pizza on Friday without their faces being on the cover of a magazine, because they wanted to sing and act and they had to do something right, even if it was just being marketed to get where they are. If nothing else respect the fact that they have a very crappy position sometimes. They do what they love and forever will be hated on by one or another for it.
Make it a little better and just keep your opinion to yourself. Yeah if they say something you don’t agree with you can make your argument, but all you people out there saying YOURE A HATER BRITNEY IS GOD are just as bad as the people saying BRITNEY sucks. Try thinking a little bit about what you would have said if you were in the shoes of the person you so energetically defend. That would make you a better fan.
Do you guys really want to buy into the media market like TV and advertising really want you to? I hope not.
The above is all just my opinion, and I chose to share it, and you are welcome to disagree with it, but please don’t slam me as a person for having an arguable thought. I just don’t always agree with the way people treat each other over a simple Britney/Christina thing. You don’t have to agree with me either, I’m just saying how I see it through my eyes.
