Why ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’ Was A Success

2005 marked the triumphant return of one of pop’s most iconic figures, Madonna! After the serious, politcally charged ‘American Life’ in 2003, Madonna was ready to return to the dance floor. The album ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ was a worldwide success, topping the chart in over 30 countries, selling 2 million copies in mere weeks and receiving universal acclaim from critics. 2005 has been largely dominated by hip-hop and r’n'b, but Madonna surprised many people by making her disco anthem ‘Hung Up’ a worldwide hit, even breaking the top ten in America. Quite impressive for a 47 year old woman who has dominated the pop world for decades, outlasting her 80’s rivals Prince and Michael Jackson, and proving she deserves her title of Queen of Pop!
