I attended the ‘Justified & Stripped’ show last Friday, the last day in LA.
The Black Eyed Peas opened with a fantastic array of songs (mostly from their new album ‘Elephunk’) and they really readied up the crowd for the next performer: Christina Aguilera.
The lights dimmed and the crowd went crazy as a video was shown of Aguilera in a chair with the words “Lies” and “Scandal” flashing on the screen. Finally, big sparks shot out of a black curtain, letting the curtain fall, revealing Christina w/ her dancers. She performed “Dirrty”. Every single person in the arena was out of their seat dancing.
Highlights of Aguilera’s show were “Lady Marmalade” in which she wore fringe panties, “Fighter” in which smoke shot up out of the ground wherever she was on stage, and “Walk Away” which included a male stripper that the crowd seemed to love. Christina ended with “Beautiful”.
Justin Timberlake’s part of the show was less eye-popping but more crowd-involving. He constantly gave directions to the audience (clap your hands, sing this line…). The audience screamed louder for him than Aguilera, but mostly because the majority of the crowd was female. Justin’s highlight: a giant crane lifted Justin extremely high, so that the people in the “bad seats” could get a better view of him. He ended w/ “Like I Love You”.
Overall, an entertaining show from Aguilera and a fun show from the *NSYNC star.
