Ashanti, Jennifer Love Hewitt & Mario Perform In New York

Today, Ashanti, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Mario performed at Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, New Jersey, as part of New York City’s Z100 RomeoNation contest. Ashanti performed Baby, Happy, her part in Whats Luv?, Foolish, and a song called Dreams which was preceded by a little speech “to always follow your dreams”. sang four songs, including Barenaked and her second single which has yet to be released. She also did a cover of a Janis Joplin song. Mario then came out and sang four or five songs on his part, closing with Just A Friend. For the most part, all three performers seemed very nice. Today is Ashanti’s birthday, so we all sang happy birthday to her as well.

Being A Rock Singer Is Easier Than Being A Movie Star

October 11, 2002 – tells Dan Aquilante that “being a rock singer is more comfortable than being a movie star.” Asked why that is, Love Hewitt said, “As a singer I don’t have to put on a lot of make-up, wear corsets and all that other stuff. For the past four months, I’ve been working on this record and I’ve only worn jeans and T-shirts. If I do a radio show I can go with my hair in a ponytail. The DJs don’t care what I look like – they want to hear if I could sing.”

Love Hewitt Comments On Her Jive Bandmates

October 10, 2002 – Jennifer Love Hewitt has commented on her Jive Records bandmates *NSYNC and to “I’ve only met Britney a couple of times and that was completely separate from, you now, me really being on Jive that much,” she said. “Justin from *NSYNC and all the *NSYNC guys I’ve known for a while since I was really young. And, you know, they would sit behind me and pull on my ponytail and sit behind me at award shows. And so, you know, they’re friends, and I think a lot of them. And the *NSYNC guys have been super supportive of my musical stuff.”

Love Hewitt Spent A Year Making ‘Barenaked’ With Brooks

October 8, 2002 – Jennifer Love Hewitt chatted with about her new album ‘Barenaked’, which is released today. Love Hewitt chose Meredith Brooks to co-write the album with her explaining, “We basically sat at her house for almost a year and had all these different ideas of things I wanted to say and talk about. We would sit down and kind of hash out the lyrics and write the songs, and we would record them some days. Other days we would wait until months later and then finally record the song and it’s a project of my heart most definitely.”
