Ashlee Simpson: I’m Totally Offended By Lip-Synching

Lucky Magazine’s interview with Ashlee Simpson is coming back to haunt her in wake of her ‘Saturday Night Live’ lip-synching fiasco over the weekend. When asked for her take on lip-synching, Jessica’s younger sister responded, “I’m totally against it and offended by it. I’m going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I’d never lip-synch. It’s just not me.”

Ashlee Simpson’s Taped Vocals Are ‘Only A Back-Up’

The New York Post reports Ashlee Simpson told ‘Saturday Night Live’ producers that only back-up vocals were contained on a track that was mistakenly played during the live show. “She told us it was only back-up,” a show official said. Simpson relies on tape recordings to provide the fuller, background vocals during her performances, according to the show source. “That’s what she told us,” he said. “It’s not unusual. A lot of people use back-up tracks” when performing on ‘SNL’.”

With the subject line “Get Your Jabs in Now”, Ashlee Simpson fights back on her official message board against the (former?) fans who have been tearing her apart for the past day over the Saturday Night Live lip-synching fiasco: “Once I can get in contact with the webmaster, everything’s getting deleted. It doesn’t matter anyway, there’s too many important people behind my career to stop it now.”

Sad girl…’, ‘I knew that she wasn’t going to last the first moment I saw her but I didn’t think she would go down this fast.. She is such a joke.. and if there still is any fans of her that are trying to protect her “Get a life!”

Britney never said she doesn’t lip-sync. PLUS,…..’, ‘Ashlee has no excuse for lip-syncing. I would hardly call what she does dancing. She hops around like a retard. Britney, on the other hand, dances her butt off with meticulously choreographed moves.

So Ashlee uses a back up vocal track. No one is as bad as Christina when it comes to that. She uses a back up vocal track for every dance number she does live. Then all she does is oh and ah over the vocal track. It’s completely pathetic that Christina relies so heavily on a back up vocal track. Just shows how utterly untalented Christina is that she can’t dance and sing at the same time.

she is laughable, poor thing. First she was handed a career with no hard work at all, just stick her on TV and every ding dong bought her cd, but in fairness to her she does have a voice. Just don’t be a phony, she lip syncs and she knows it lol

I’m sorry I dint make myself to clear I was meaning to say that out of the FEMALE artists Shakira and Christina A were the only ones that dint lip-synch. I know BSB always sing and so do artists like Aaron Carter who some say has a bad voice but at least the kid sings and has sold tons of cds by singing.

  6. AFMartin87 says:

For the person who said Christina A. wasn’t talent. I’ve just got one thing to say. YOU ARE BLIND & DEF! Ashlee sucks at singing, so I don’t know why she lip synced, she couldn’t make it sound any wore than it already is. Yes, a lot of other people do lip sync. BUT, they do not boldly defy it, and stand against it, criticizing others who do like Ashlee has. The dumb ***** deserves all of the ***** she is getting right now. Maybe this will teach her to keep her nasty ass trap shut!

Hopefully we will never have to sing that no-talent having child again. She knew she was lip-synching and played it off terribly. I can’t believe she blamed it on her band though. If I were them I would quit. They are the only ones with any talent.

  8. PopCynic says:

Can someone answer a question for me?’, ‘…preferably someone who isn’t an Ashlee-hater? I didn’t get to see SNL and I was wondering – anyone who did, when she first sang Pieces of Me, did it sound like she was lip-syncing? Did it sound like the recording that was played the second time around…?

The accusations that Ashlee Simpson was “caught” lip-synching is ridiculous. I’m necessarily not an Ashlee Simpson fan, a friend of mine asked me to view the video because he thought it was funny. I watched it and – give me a break – are people really so dumb that they can’t see what’s going on here? During live concert performances many times a group will play a background track or effects track to coincide with the live performance. These tracks contain audio that’s not possible to perform live, such as synthesized vocal effects and computer generated sound effects. They play these tracks so the live performances can sound more like a studio recording or CD. When the second performance came around on Saturday Night Live, whoever was controlling the effects track accidentally played the track from the first performance. Ashlee obviously picked up on this and tried to cover up the mistake. A few seconds into the song, the effects track, which also seems to have been playing some percussion, played a synthesized backup vocal of Ashlee intended to be played in accompaniment to Ashlee’s lead voice from her mike. Of course, Ashlee wasn’t singing at the time so the only thing we heard was the backup vocals – which immediately causes the fans to scream “Hey, she’s lip-synching!!” Not the case. This could have been saved had the band played the correct song instead of going along with the effects track. The live performance would have overpowered the background track and someone eventually would have turned it down. Unfortunately, the band played the first song the second time around, going along with the effects track, not that they should be blamed for doing that. It just shows that people should look at the material and make their own opinions more often than following the mob. Rob from Vegas

She’s so dumb! Why would she jump around like a loser! lol. The least she could have done was go along lip synching Pieces again. But anyways, I guess it’s better that that happened. Maybe her career will end soon, lol.

She needs to stop making such a big deal out of this and just move on. If she did lip-synchs, or if she does, wow, what else is new, and if she don’t, then great. But they don’t have to make this into such a big drama. Lip-syncing is not a crime, when an artist gets caught doing it, well, it happens. She just needs to face the music and accept the fact that she got caught.

I just wanted to say that I love Ashlee Simpson’s music with all my heart and I want to spend the rest of my life listening to it because her music has been the best thing that has ever happened to me ever since she came into the music industry back in 2004. I would be lost if she ever decides to stop making music because making music is what she lives for. I don’t care if she got caught lip-synching on Saturday Night Live back in 2004, she doesn’t deserve to have a lot of haters out there bashing her after what happened because she is a human being who has feelings just like everybody else does. She is one of my most favorite female Pop music artists in the music industry and of this generation, and I’m one of her most biggest fans who was born and raised over here in the United States of America. I don’t care if she had plastic surgery on her nose either, I think that she looks a lot more prettier than my wife (her name is also Ashley and she is a royal bitch). I have all 3 of her albums and I’m looking forward to buying her new upcoming album as soon as she releases it. She isn’t fake at all like a lot of haters out there claims she is, she is real and she is very talented when it comes to singing and writing her own songs. End of story.
