Dick Clark Admits Industry Is A Lot More Sophisticated

As Dick Clark celebrates his 30th anniversary American Music Awards show, he acknowledges the music business has changed radically in three decades. “Kids always ask me how do I get a break in the music business,” he tells the Cincinnati Post. “Once I even wrote a few articles on the subject. Now I wouldn’t even know what the hell to tell them. It used to be you’d go into a garage, make a record, stick it in your trunk, take them to the radio stations and you’re in business. It’s a lot more sophisticated.”
