People magazine’s cover story shed light on why Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey ended their three year marriage. One of the apparent reasons, Jessica’s father/manager Joe Simpson. “No matter how nice your in-laws are, it must have been really hard to have them a constant presence,” says family friend Lynn Zednick Shaw. Another source added, “He controls Jessica’s life and therefore has controlled Nick’s life. I’m not saying they don’t have problems, but Nick loves Jessica. I’m telling you, it’s Joe.”

I wonder if she was bought off by Joe, cause this could prevent Nick from getting half of what he is owed if it’s proved that he was having an affair during his marriage. This is all Jessica would need to prove to keep her money and screw Nick.
is it me or do u think he isn’t that good looking? He reminds me of a cartoon character (i cant think of which one)!! but I def. think Jessica can do better (in the looks department). However I did watch Newlyweds and they seemed like they were happy but that’s what fame does to you. You can’t have it all can you?
I personally like him, and I feel that he’s sexy but I can see how some wouldn’t find him all that attractive. I’ve seen some old 98º pics where he’s hit, and there are some pics where he’s hot as hell.
I don’t think he’s disgusting, he’s good looking but I don’t think he is on a par with Jessica.She looks really pretty now. And that mustache thing he got going on really drives me nuts!! U either have one or you don’t!!!His body is pretty fantastic though, I have to say.
That’s what I was thinking, but California happens to be a no-fault state. Which means, Nick could screwed the entire female population in California and it does not affect the divorce settlement. He get what he gets, which in California is 1/2 of the couple’s earnings. I have a feeling it’s because most polls consider Jessica at fault for the demise of the marriage. Since, her image is at stake, Joe wants to get her in the good grace of the public again and dragging Nick’s name through the mud the way to do it.
Clearly this girl wants her camera time. Not only that, but Nick needs to be careful about what he does. No doubt Jessica’s father is going to make her look like an Angel and Nick look like the Satan. Both could be at fault, it’s never all one person who is to blame.
Yeah, but all the divorce court will need to do is watch re-runs of Newlyweds and see for themselves how obnoxious the Simpson clan is. Nick should get MORE than half of their earnings for sticking it out as long as he did. Well, at least he has his soul back now.
Being her manager/father may have been a strain on the relationship, but Jessica is a married woman she needed to take charge of the situation and she clearly thought fame was more important. She has wanted fame since she was young, attaining it was her goal now is not the time for her to give it up she feels. Plus this is the second time she has dumped him, they only married because of 9/11, being dumped twice should give Nick a clear message.
Well in my opinion most parents make the worse managers in the entertainment business, and Joe is no exception. I could understand the strain it put into the relationship, but I think it would be silly to assume that he’s the cause of their split. Both Nick and Jess are grown people, no matter how much dad is in their business or what not, they are the ones that makes the decisions of whether or not they want to save their marriage, and together they affect it the most.
