Former Clay Aiken Fans Respond To Simon Cowell

Former fans of ‘American Idol’ season two runner-up have issued a press release in response to ‘Idol’ judge Simon Cowell’s comments on ‘Larry King Live’ that the fans who filed a complaint against Aiken to the FTC are “crazy.” The nine fans stated: “We are grateful that the merits of our complaint will be heard by the FTC instead of a pretend judge from a televised talent show. We have been dismayed to see our complaint characterized in the media as homophobic. That is not our intention and while central to our complaint it is regrettable that Mr. Aiken’s sexuality has come under scrutiny. Our complaint is not about defaming Mr. Aiken or his sexual preferences. It is directed toward the deceptive practices of the record companies.” Read more.

Their lawsuit is the most bogus thing I’ve ever heard. Suing because the private person’s personality is not the same as the showbiz persona? Should they sue Alice Cooper because he likes to play golf, and isn’t really into mayhem and destruction as one might believe from the Alice Cooper records? Should they sue Steven Seagal because he really can’t kick ass they way he pretends to do in the movies? I’ve read many interviews where an artist says”on stage I’m . But offstage I’m just me”. Should they all be sued?
