The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports local resident Joshua Dallas got furious at Simon Cowell during the American Idol auditions in Atlanta last October, which will be featured on the next episode. After succeeding in the first two go-rounds, singing Whitney Houston’s ‘Saving All My Love for You,’ he got the thumbs down from Cowell. Dallas says after the rejection, “I went off on Simon. I said, ‘Simon you will see me again, you blockhead motherfu**er’.” He explained, “You know, I believe he called me a boat singer. I don’t know what ‘a boat singer’ means.”
‘American Idol’ Crushes ‘The Bachelorette’
January 24, 2003 – The New York Daily News reports that in a head-to-head matchup of ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Bachelorette’, two reality show juggernauts, Fox won hands-down with 24.9 million viewers Wednesday from 8:30 to 10 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research. ABC, which extended ‘The Bachelorette’ by a half-hour, drew 13.4 million, its lowest number since October 16th.
Leno’s Crack On ‘American Idol’ Lawsuit
January 23, 2003 – Jay Leno joked during his Tonight Show monologue on Wednesday night, “A 50-year-old Florida man is suing the producers of ‘American Idol’ for ‘age discrimination.’ Allegedly they told him he was too old to audition. See, that’s when you know Florida has an elderly population – when the kids trying to break into show business down there are in their 50s!”
Fox ‘Staggered’ By Idol’s Season Opener Ratings
