Ernest Hardy of LA Weekly shared his thoughts on both *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, and their urban transformation. Regarding Timberlake, Hardy said, “Groomed and shaped first by Disney, then by creepy boy-band impresario Lou Perlman, Justin (day job: ‘the cute one’ in *NSYNC) is a wigger. Eminem, groomed and shaped first by an unstable home life, then by the nihilistic/misogynistic fury of hip-hop, is not. Both are poseurs, of course, but Justin’s pose is the result of test-market results, demographic charts and immersion in mass culture via MTV.” And on Aguilera: “She’s unable to transcend clichéd – and often self-defeating – definitions of freedom and female power. The result is an album that shape-shifts from one femme prototype to another with grim determination: She wants to be Madonna, Wendy O. Williams and a weepily defiant Mariah, all at once. In the end, Christina herself barely registers at all.” Read more.
Justin May Re-shoot ‘Cry Me A River’ Video
December 13, 2002 – Contributed by elgato: VIRGOCHIC from the Backstreet Boys forum at LiveDaily.com says “OK… here is the deal. My radio station is not very reliable, they tend to report rumors alot. They said something about [Justin Timberlake] has to re-shoot his ‘Cry Me a River’ video because his label thought that basically it was a low blow to [Britney Spears]. If that is the case, doesn’t the label approve the videos? If so is it possible that they got a lot of backlash from the Britney fans and that is why they want the re-shoot? Like I said, my radio station is usually full of crap and I was just wondering if anyone else had heard this.”
It doesn’t look to well that Justin is stalking the Britney-look alike in the video, now that Britney has a real stalker problem. Also, Justin has told media that he would not speak of their relationship, though he is very much implying things with this video. One fan on the forum said if Justin re-shoots the video, he’ll be admitting that the video is about Britney, something he denied early on. Another fan on the forum said she heard about Justin having to re-shoot the video on Entertainment Tonight or Inside Edition.
