RCA Music Group Chairman Bob Jamieson said in a statement, “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Kelly on her recording career. As we saw on the show, her preserving work ethic and ability to maintain her composure in the most high-pressure of situations–not to mention her stunning voice–showcase what a great talent she truly is.”

Searches for ‘Kelly Clarkson’ were 67,120 on pay-per search engine Searches for the several songs performed on the show were amongst the top searched queries, but interest in nude photos was not very high. Despite having less than 1/3 of the search interest that Kelly had, former stripper and fellow ‘Idol’ Nikki McKibbon had more ‘nude’ related searches (and no surprise, so did Ryan Starr). The most frequently searched songs were ‘Without You’ with 138 searches and ‘I Surrender’ with 61. The most common misspelled search was Kelley Clarkson with 288.

September 9, 2002 – Dees Sleaze talked about Kelly winning ‘American Idol’ last week and the interview she did with the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. They played an excerpt of her appearance on the show where Jay’s other guest Jimmy Fallon talked about why he was happy Kelly won. Rick says Kelly got $10,000 for the appearance, and that she gets $10 grand for TV appearances, and $5,000 for radio appearances. For going to a state fair in Houston, Kelly reportedly got $50,000. But for that winning $1 million recording contract, she only gets about $23,000 according to Rick, after all the expenses. Audio has since been removed.

September 9, 2002 – Andrew Morton of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram profiled perhaps the most famous woman from Texas today — Kelly Clarkson. Kelly described herself saying, “I just try to be as real as I can be — the kind of person who doesn’t really care if she is caught without makeup, not some ultra-professional musician who is only ‘on’ when in front of the camera.” Still, that doesn’t mean she has no worries about her appearance. Asked what she’d like to get if she becomes a recording artist in Los Angeles, Kelly admitted, “A personal trainer, please. I need to get my booty in shape.”

Westlife And Kelly Clarson Using Same Songwriter

September 8, 2002 – The Sun reports Westlife are working with the same songwriters as ‘American Idol’ winner Kelly Clarkson in their latest effort to crack the U.S. market. Their new cut, ‘Unbreakable’ was written by Jorgen Elofsson and Jon Reid, the same pair who penned ‘A Moment Like This’ for Kelly and ‘Idol’ runner-up Justin Guarini to sing. The guys are back from Los Angeles after shooting the video for the track and will release it as the sole new cut off their greatest hits album, due out November 11.

    That’s cool! I hope they don’t change her or anything. She seems to be really cool and down to earth. Also, she has an AMAZING voice!! I can’t wait to hear her album! I’m sure it’ll be great :)

    I agree with BuffyFan, they need to let her just be able to get on stage and sing. Shes got an amazing voice and the public already knows that. I hope RCA doesn’t not push her into the direction of making her dance as well. She doesn’t need that. She could just go in the path of Celine Dion, if she wants to make it.

    ew, I don’t like RCA. They did Nsync wrong and I don’t like the way they’ve handled Christina Aguilera’s career so far. It just seems like they are a little shady.
