The Sunday Mirror reports Madonna’s last-minute cancellation from tonight’s Golden Globe Awards is because her son Rocco is sick. Madonna has chosen to stay at the two-year-old’s bedside at the family’s home in Beverly Hills. It has not been revealed what is wrong with Rocco, but a source close to the star said: “He seems to be quite sick. All Madonna will say is that she is not attending the Globes because of a family emergency.”

January 15, 2003 – The Mirror reports record bosses at Warner Brothers have asked Madonna to re-record a number of tracks on her new album, which is scheduled to be released on April 15th. “Madonna feels like she delivered her best album yet last week but the record label have insisted that the material needs to be changed,” a source said. “They really liked what they heard and it’s another example of Madonna reinventing herself. But the problem is that it’s too avant garde to be a commercial success. She had used far too many electronic synthesizers on her voice and had morphed a lot of her vocals to sound like a robot. There was even a 12-minute long track.”

Madonna May Be Golden Globes No-Show

January 15, 2003 – Jeannette Walls of MSNBC reports Madonna, who was billed to be a presenter at the Golden Globes, may be a no-show. “It’s still unconfirmed,” a rep in her label’s office says.
