Mandy Moore To Sing About Andy Roddick Split On New Album reports that Mandy Moore is set to sing about her split from tennis ace Andy Roddick on her forthcoming album. “I’ve co-written the whole thing and I spent the last year writing. I think it’s gonna surprise people,” Moore said. “It’s a very sophisticated, cool, singer-songwriter-y like organic pop record… It’s sort of just chronicling what’s happened in my life over the last year or so. A lot to do with love and heartbreak and stuff. But it’s my first kind of venture into like sitting down and actually writing. It’s been like the most cathartic thing I ever, ever could’ve done. And it’s so fun to sort of put something (on paper) that you’re not feeling not too great about and turn it into a positive thing.”

Mandy Moore’s Crush On Co-Star Hugh Grant

August 26, 2005 – World Entertainment News Network reports that Mandy gushed about her crush on Hugh Grant after working with the British actor in the upcoming movie ‘American Dreamz’. “I’m sure Hugh’s probably back in London now going like: ‘I worked with this girl, Mindy…’ like I made no impression on him whatsoever,” Moore said. “But I think all the women just were gushing around him saying: ‘It’s Hugh Grant!’ The accent, he’s charming, he’s hilarious, he’s so talented and yet so humble. Just such a regular guy. I was like: ‘Oh my God, I hope all movie stars are like this!'”

All these girls “co write” nowadays but none of them actually write their own songs by themselves. Oh well. I do =)

As far as these teen girl stars go, she really isn’t that bad (faint praise, huh?). Her voice is decent enough (better than Hilary, Lindsay, Britney, Ashlee but can’t hold a candle to Christina) and she has done some good roles onscreen (particularly as “Hilary Faye” in “Saved!”) – in fact, she has proven to be a quite capable actress with greater success there than as a singer. Her problem is she has none of the “intangible” qualities that make certain people stars regardless of their talent level while others are left as also rans. She will probably spend her career as a respected ensemble and supporting role player. Certainly nothing to be ashamed of but she will probably never attain the level of stardom the other girls have achieved.

I think if Mandy can find the type of roles that Scarlett Johanson does, she’ll be ok

I think Mandy has a brighter future than most of her competition. She’s no known for ridiculous scandals nor outrageous fashion statements. When she is able to sing songs that suit her voice, she can sound pretty good. One thing I must say that I truly like about Mandy Moore is that she is not a sell out. She has never gone out of her way to belittle herself in order to fit into a limited & degrading image just for super stardom. I’m glad that she is not the queen (Britney Spears) or princess (Jessica Simpson) of tabloids. I have faith that her new studio album is going to be a wonderful & refreshing treat for the music industry. But, I do believe she should continue to make movies. Hopefully, she will branch out a bit, like fellow movie star Scarlett Johanson.

My new record has like, you know, songs about love and heartbreak and stuff. I’m so, like, really mature now.

You’re probably right. She also has a personality that some call “boring”, but which I think is simply that she’s not an over-ambitious egomaniac. I suspect she’s well grounded in reality – to the extent that’s possible for young actress/singer.
