Madonna and Mariah Carey’s rivalry has hit new heights ahead of tomorrow’s Grammys after the Material Girl convinced awards bosses to give her the show opening performance instead of Carey’s choir-backed rendition of ‘We Belong Together’. “The producers noted that Madge is a five-time winner,” a source tells The New York Daily News, even though Madonna received zero nominations this year. Another source added, “The war between Madonna and Mariah has been going on for years. Mariah was also steaming last summer when Madonna stole the show at Live 8.”
Just Watch The Grammy Awards & Enjoy
February 7, 2006 – Contributed anonymously: The Grammy Awards are just around the corner… And it’s simply going to be an exciting night. All we pop fanatics must celebrate the good year of music. The Grammy Awards should be something that would unite every one of us whether a fan of this artist or that. What could be the show-stopper or headliner this year? Would any artist make another record award haul? Anyway, what’s important is that our pop idols (Madonna, Gwen, Kelly, Beyonce, Mariah etc.) have their fair share of the limelight this year. 2005 was an amazing year for pop music & hopefully 2006 would be the same or even better!
Whoever wins an award or has a good performance in the Grammy Awards should be congratulated. Let’s not bicker at the results of the awards for it will not bring us anywhere. What I would like to convey is that all fans should be happy for the artists they support no matter what happens during the awards. For closure, Mariah is very fortunate to have 8 nominations & that means she had been qualified as one of the finalists for those categories. It doesn’t mean that because she has 8 nominations, she is guaranteed to sweep them. Janet was nominated for 8 Grammy Awards in 1990 but won only one, Mariah herself was nominated for 6 awards when ‘One Sweet Day’ was the biggest U.S. Hit for the year but she still came out empty handed.
Madonna hasn’t been nominated this year because ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’ was released November. September 30 was the cut-off period for submitting nominations & of course ‘Confessions’ wouldn’t be an eligible entry for this year’s show. Don’t get me wrong I’m not wishing anyone bad luck. I just hope everyone becomes more rational at looking at things. I know the Grammy Awards is the biggest music awards in the world but these awards are also based on personal opinion. The best award an artist can really get is when she/he sees the happy faces of the millions of fans she/he has touched. The Grammy Awards is a wonderful showcase of musical talent & all fans should just enjoy the show as it is…simple.
