New Ashlee Simpson Movie Flops

Contributed Anonymously:

According to Box Office Mojo, ‘Undiscovered’ has only made $690,000 in it’s first week at #19. This is worse than the openings of ‘Glitter’ and ‘Gigli’. The only movie to have done worse in recent years is ‘Swept Away’ starring Madonna, which only made $354,052 in its first week.

OK! Magazine Keeping An Eye On Simpsons At VMAs

The New York Post hears that OK! magazine is paying for Jessica and Ashlee Simpson’s hotel rooms at the Setai in Miami this weekend for Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards to “keep an eye on them and help them stay loyal to the magazine,” spies told Page Six.

Ashley Simpson had a movie? At least most people heard about Glitter, Gigli, or Swept Away before its release, I haven’t heard about this movie at all.

Well how many theaters did this movie open in? The media always fails to mention that. I live in Dallas, which is one of the largest cities in the US, and “Undiscovered” is not at any of my local theaters. “Glitter”, “Gigli”, & “Swept Away” were all set up to be failures, they only open them in limited theaters. Less than 1500, and expect them to sell millions of tickets?? PLEASE! You could have released “Titanic” in 1000 theaters and tickets sales would have bombed.

I’ve known about it for weeks. I didn’t realize she was in it until a week ago.

The one with Heather Loclear tanked pretty hard.

Um, I live in Dallas too. It is in limited release, but, Dallas theaters are showing’, ‘”Undiscovered”. Dallas is a major media market, there are few films that it doesn’t get. As for this one, I wanted to see it when I went to AMC 30 with my boyfriend, but he hates Ashlee, so we didn’t. The Brothers Grimm is a much better movie anyway.

but Titanic was a big budgeted film, and expected to be a success, so…’, ‘that would mean that it would be in more theatres, and deserved every right to. Ashlee’s movie, Gigli, Swept Away, and Glitter weren’t expected to be great, there wasn’t big hype around them (most of them had bad reviews months before their release), and they were low budgeted, so of course they would sell in less theatres and not do so well. Why would a director go all out on making this big budget movie only to release it in 1000 theatres? It’s just rare for any big budgeted film to just release in a few theatres, or for a lower budgeted film to release in 1500 theatres. It’s just common sense.

the movie didn’t have much publicity, not a lot of theatres are showing it. And really, just lack of interest in the plot, and sadly, people won’t give Ashlee a chance to prove herself, so not a lot of people went to see it because she was in it. I heard she was good though, but the plots isn’t something that interests me so I won’t see it

and Ashlee’s movie selling in more theatres doesn’t mean it would have done better

You can’t give “Undiscovered” a bad/good review till you actually see it. “Undiscovered” hardly had any publicity. I never even seen ads for it on tv or in magazines. The only promo that I saw for it, was when Ashlee was on Jay Leno like a week ago. They showed a clip of the movie. Other than that, that’s all I heard about it. If it would have had more publicity and if more theaters were showing it, then it probably would have done better. I don’t think it would have been in the top 5 though. It probably would have debuted at #8. Who knows. it doesn’t really matter anyway.

i actually wanted to see that. mostly because I like the song by James Blunt and the idea the song portrays. it’d be nice to see a movie made out of that song. it can be so easily done, given the right writers. I hardly saw any promotion for it, though.

i honestly want to see it. the movie had almost no publicity unlike jessica’s. and its not even widely released. I think if it would of had more publicity and it would of been released in more theaters then it would of done better. I think its weird that it had like no publicity at all. maybe they didn’t want it to be such a hit. maybe they did the movie just to do it knowing it would not be a hit. and if anyone with any brains actually pays any attention to the lil bit of publicity that movie got. you would actually realize that the movie has lil to do with ashlee’s role. shes not even of the main characters. shes has a supporting role. the movie centers around the rock star and the girl that he wants to keep as his girlfriend.

Ashlee sucks and should not be allowed to sing. She writes good songs, but should stick to just that and let someone with a real voice sing her songs. Oh, and is it just me or does it appear that Shanice and Divinah are the same person? they use the EXACT SAME VOCABULARY and both have limited knowledge of good music. Anyone else pick that up?

  11. caturce says:

It was going to flop anyway’, ‘She can’t act/sing let’s just accept it! and if Jessica is doin well with publicity it doesn’t mean that she can actually act, they both are really bad actresses and I don’t give credit to any of them because of their acting skills, I think Britney did better than them in crossroads! just to mention how bad they both were! that’s not something I’m surprised with, we all know Ashlee is a fiasco and if it wasn’t for mtv or the blow job that ashlee’s dad gave to that gay vip manager in mtv our Ashlee would be nothing!
