Paolo Nutini 'The Story So Far Part 1'

A posting at Paolo Nutini’s blog at MySpace (@paolonutini) on Wednesday (October 15) reads as follows:

Congratulation are in order for Paolo, Matty Benbrook and Jim Duguid who all bagged an ASCAP Award for their songwriting on Paolo’s hit ‘New Shoes’.

Paolo picked up the award at the glittering ceremony which was held at The Grosvenor House Hotel yesterday evening (15th October). It was the 28th Annual ASCAP Awards and it acknowledges songs that have had significant airplay in the United States during 2007. ASCAP is the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and other songs/artists that received awards were AC/DC, Dido, Lennox & Dave Stewart, Corrine Bailey Rae, The Kooks, Kate Nash, New Order, The Beatles, U2, The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney… oh, and Paolo!

Ashford & Simpson received a special award and performed for the selected guests. This husband and wife team have been writing songs for decades – they started in 1966 with the Ray Charles song “Let’s Go Get Stoned”. They also wrote the Motown classics like “Aint Nothing Like The Real Thing”, “Reach Out And Touch (Somebody’s Hand)”, “Aint No Mountain High Enough” among others!

It’s a most deserved honor as we’re sure you’ll agree – three cheers for Paolo, Jim and Matty! And a few neurofen’s too!
