Pop Should Not Lead To Tears

Okay, I have been checking out this site every once in a while, and have decided not to join. I would just like to tell you why, before I leave once and for all. This is supposed to be a POP site, so I came here thinking that I would see forums discussing (either positively or negatively) artists such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, Jennifer Lopez, Mandy Moore, and so on. However, what I found was comments wishing people death, terrorism, an STD. And not wishing this on pop stars (which would be bad enough) but wishing it on other members. Then today I saw the final straw. Someone mentioned that it was okay to make fun of people in that way, and that if they got upset about it they should just go and commit suicide. Sure, there were a few people who defended the other side of this. However, I cannot believe that someone would even say such a thing.

My sister in law was killed in the attack on the twin towers in New York on 9/11. This is still hard for me to talk about, even know as I type I can feel the tears swelling in my eyes. But if someone told me to go get blown up by terrorists, it would affect me even more. Does that make me pathetic? Maybe it does, but I don’t think it gives anyone the right to say it. I am sure that I am not the only person affected by terrorism (or an STD, or gay bashing, or racism which is also apparent on this site) who likes pop music. Why should we have to be subjected to that just because we want to be on a pop site?

I don’t understand.
