Simon Cowell confirmed to Us Weekly that ‘American Idol’ runner-up Justin Guarini has been dropped by RCA Records after selling only 57,000 copies of his self-titled debut. “He’s been dropped. It happens sometimes,” Cowell said at the ‘Love Actually’ premiere. ‘Idol’ champ Kelly Clarkson was shocked to hear the news. “Oh, my God,” she exclaimed. “I had no idea. I’m friends with Justin. That is so sad.”
PETA Delays Ad Poking Fun At Clay
November 18, 2003 – The Associated Press spoke with PETA vice president Dan Mathews on the animal rights group’s new controversial advertisement which features Triumph the Insult Comic dog saying ‘Get Neutered, It Didn’t Hurt Clay Aiken’. “If Clay Aiken intends on staying famous, he has to learn to take a joke,” Mathews said Tuesday. He added, “It may rub some people the wrong way, but it’s poking fun with a serious message.”

November 12, 2003 – Conan O’Brien joked during his Late Night monologue on Tuesday night, “Former ‘American Idol’ singer Justin Guarini is being sued by a couple who claim he rammed into the back of their car. That’s right. Yeah, that’s what it said. Yeah. Yeah, and when he heard you could be sued for ramming someone from behind, Clay Aiken fled the country.”
