There are so many stories on Britney and I thought that we need to challenge ourselves and ask a different question. What were the people behind Britney thinking when they signed her?? I know that when she tried out, 3 record labels rejected her. Then she auditioned for Jive and they signed her but not to a recording deal but a developing deal. In other words she had to prove her stuff. So she did the tours, kids liked her. She got a great song “Baby One more Time…” and bam surprise it was a hit. Ok so people where interested in her, mostly the younger generation. They played her songs on the Disney Channel and the Fox countdown for children. She did hit it big with the smaller generation. The show that exposed her to the teenagers was TRL. IF you guys remember her first time on there, she looked nothing like she does today. Long Brown natural hair, different face make up, different body, and different shy attitude. So the teen’s liked her video and song and she was popular.
Her first few performance where nothing like today. I’m NOT talking about the special effects. I’m talking about her dancing. She stood throughout most of her performances. Ok so maybe it was performance fright? I don’t know. But form the first performance she did something that most of the acts didn’t: lip- synch. Then there where stories about another Milli Vanilli up our sleeve. Critics going to her tours saying her lips never matched with the song. Britney’s people protected her by saying their video footage was slowed down. Ok sure.
So Britney or Britney’s people made her do a Rolling Stone’s cover. That blew her status up and from then on she became this sex performer and it was shocking because she was so young. And you guys know the rest.
Everyone own is blaming Britney for the lip synching but if you really think about it, it’s her manager and the people behind her that are controlling her career. When she started out Britney herself said she couldn’t decide or give her own opinions other then what she claims to be her ideas not he videos, but anyway they wouldn’t listen to her because she didn’t know nothing about the business.
So if you think about it, they made her lip synch. They didn’t care that she didn’t sing live as long as people loved her and she made money. Her market made her get breast implants or she wore 2 push up bras at the same time once, just so she can get attention. When Christina Aguilera came out everyone was saying how it’s the end of Britney. Well it wasn’t. Her manager had a plan. That plan was to teach Britney better dance moves and make her loose weight to get that perfect tummy, and they dyed her hair and made her wear sexier clothes. She stood out for that part. Christina was an act for older listeners while Britney had the smaller and the teen listeners.
So to make this short my point is we should protest or do something to the way they are managing Britney. If they really wanted her to sing live I bet they would force her too or else. Instead of the RIAA suing people for downloading free media, why can’t they sue Britney’s manager for letting a singer lip synch, and copy Madonna’s ideas? Because if that’s all it takes, then you can make any girl another Britney!
