James Morrison is out with the music video to his new single ‘Up’, featuring Jessie J, off the English singer songwriter’s third album ‘The Awakening’, out now on Island Records.
Morrison’s A&R man Colin Barlow suggested the collaboration with Jessie J after James initially thought Adele would be ideal for the track. “Not that I was doubting Jessie’s ability in any way,” the singer said, according to his official web site’s biography. “But I was worried whether she was the right character for the song. She got in the booth and did all this stuff that was amazing she is a ridiculously good singer, so in tune she’s like Autotune. I wanted to tap into the side of her character that is just a normal girl. I was like, you’re a Ferrari, Jessie, you’re in fifth gear – take it down to third. In the end it worked amazingly: she sang the chorus the way I should’ve sung it!”

James Morrison has been away writing songs for his third album for much of 2010. The new album, which is still being recorded, will be released during 2011, with live shows to follow. In the meantime, James has recorded a special Christmas message to let everyone know what he’s been up to, wish everyone a Merry Christmas and to play a new song called ‘In My Dreams’. “Next year I’m really excited to bring out the new album. I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch,” the English singer songwriter said. “I’ve just been wanting to make it the best album that I’ve made. I put all my efforts into making it a good album. I’m really excited about going on tour again and playing some new places I haven’t been to.” Watch the comments and performance via YouTube below.
Leon Jackson and his dear friend Sean Rumsey paid homage to James Morrison and Nelly Furtado by performing a live piano acoustic version of their smash hit ‘Broken Strings’.
“We just thought we’d quickly do this for some fun,” they write. “Hope you enjoy, & thanks for watching!”

James Morrison checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace (@jamesmorrisonmusic) on Monday (October 26), apologizing for canceling his concert at La Riviera on Sunday. The English singer songwriter tells readers:
To all the people who were meant to see the show in Madrid yesterday… I cannot apologize enough for letting you all down by canceling the show. I did not feel I could deliver the show that you deserved to see – my voice was non-existent. I know some of you had come a long way to see me and an apology is not enough to compensate for the no show. It’s just one of those unfortunate circumstances. I appreciate all the people who were singing outside the bus and am sorry I could not say hello but I had strict orders from the doctor to have total voice rest.
Hopefully I can make it back to Madrid and give you a great show soon.
James Morrison checked in from the set of the video for his new single ‘Get To You’. “I’ve been locked away in the studio for awhile,” Morrison said, “writing songs, and getting the new material together for the gigs and in general.”
