Lisa Marie Presley laughs at the mention of the Hilton hotel heiresses, who seem to do little other than go to celebrity parties. “Those two are the epitome of what my mother raised me not to be,” she tells the Los Angeles Times. “I don’t know what they’ve done. Maybe it’s the bleach that fascinates people. When I read an article about them, I showed it to my mom and said, ‘This is exactly what you were trying so hard to make me not be and thank you’.”
Talking about the breakup of Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson, Presley told Diane Sawyer on ‘Primetime Thursday’ last night, “It was over the phone. I’d had enough. There was just a lot of stuff going on. It got really ugly at the end. It wasn’t pretty.”
Diane Sawyer tells Entertainment Tonight that Lisa Marie Presley told her on ‘Primetime Thursday’ (airing tonight), once she got to know ex-husband Michael Jackson, she discovered he is completely different than his public persona. “She says with Jackson, sometimes she thinks people are artists when, in fact, they’re just strange. Sometimes she’s convinced that she has to help save them, when, in fact, they’re manipulating her.” Video has since been removed.
Newsweek caught up with Lisa Marie Presley for a Q&A and asked the singer about her short-lived marriage to Michael Jackson, and whether she grasped that it was going to be a media circus going in. “I was naive on that front,” she admitted. “I was in this constant struggle that went something like this: a man who’s with me who has nothing is gonna be stomped on and have no identity left by the time [the press] get done with him. He’ll be Mr. Fu**in’ Presley. I thought, I need to be with someone bigger than I am—or at least comparable—so they don’t get trampled. Michael wanted to meet me earlier in my life, and I said, ‘No way.’ I thought he was a freak, and I had no interest in meeting him. But when I finally did, he immediately dashed any preconceived idea I had about him. We had a perfectly normal conversation, and I completely forgot who he was within 20 minutes. I actually did fall in love with him, but I don’t know what was on his menu.”
Michael Jackson has responded to Lisa Marie Presley’s recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine. He said in a statement, “Michael Jackson wishes Lisa Marie all the best in the world. However, as to a comment on anything to do with their marriage, as a gentleman Michael prefers not to respond.” Elvis’ daughter has been completely open about confirming their short-lived marriage was indeed consummated.
Roger Friedman of FoxNews.com shared his thoughts on Lisa Marie Presley’s latest efforts to promote her debut album — notably her interview with Rolling Stone magazine. He writes, “To get publicity for her album, she turns on Michael Jackson and blames him for their highly publicized bad marriage. She even sends Heath lyrics to a song not on the album that imply Jackson is ‘masturbative.’ … Yet Presley manages to use Jackson throughout the article in order to promote herself. … Presley says in the article this will probably be her only album, and she will most likely go back to being a recluse. It may not be such a bad idea.” Read more.
RollingStone.com has posted their cover story on Lisa Marie Presley, along with her photo session and new video ‘Lights Out’. Referring to the child-abuse accusations surfaced with ex hubby Michael Jackson, Presley still sounds unsure of the truth. “That whole sh** hit the fan,” Presley recalls, “and he was quick to call me and tell me what his side of the story was, so it looked like an extortion situation. I believed him, because he was so convincing.” She frowns wryly. “I don’t know… I just believed everything he said, for some reason. It’s very strange, because there’s not a lot of people who he’ll allow to see who he really is — there’s probably only five or six people, not including kids, who have seen who he really is. But when you do…” She smiles. “He didn’t get where he is because he’s an idiot. You see a real person who’s very much the opposite of what he was presenting.”

Jacko Didn’t Just Become A White Guy
March 28, 2003 – Jay Leno joked during his Tonight Show monologue last night, “Hey, did you see the latest issue of Rolling Stone? Lisa Marie Presley gives an interview there. And she says when she first married Michael Jackson, he drank, he cursed, he told dirty jokes and he didn’t always talk in a high voice. That’s hard to believe, isn’t it? Michael Jackson walking around with a dirty t-shirt, drinking, cursing. So, apparently he didn’t just become a white guy, he became a redneck!”

But after a while I got some romantic idea I could save him and we could save the world. But then I realized Michael was constantly at work, calculating, manipulating. He scared me like that.”
Jacko Rejects Star’s $1 Million Lie Detector Challenge
March 26, 2003 – Star magazine reports Michael Jackson has refused Star magazine’s $1 million offer to take a lie-detector test that would clarify his relationships with children. “This is typical Michael Jackson, not to want to take a lie-detector test, because in my opinion he has been lying for many years,” declares psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman – who recently lodged a formal complaint with Child Protection Services in Santa Barbara, Calif., over Jackson’s relationship with his three children. “It was a golden opportunity if he had nothing to hide, but obviously he’s not that brave.”
