The Daily Star reports tickets for t.A.T.u.’s two British dates are selling so poorly the lesbian duo have been forced to take controversial action. The pair are inviting schoolgirls to join them on stage. Lena Katina and Julia Volkova are looking for girls as young as 14 to rehearse and perform with them.
A statement for the band says, “We’d like to invite 300 girls aged 14 to 17 to come and join us. We want them to be wearing the TATU school uniform – short skirt and white blouse. Arrive at 3pm and we’ll learn a routine for the real show.”
Tatu Antics ‘Nothing Strange’
April 22, 2003 – t.A.T.u.’s Lena Katina says that despite their raunchy videos and stage shows, they’re not trying to be controversial. She says, “We’re not just talking people that you should go this way because it’s better, no! We’re just showing that it is in this life, and it’s nothing strange. It’s not a miracle. It’s just life.”
