Tatu’s Lena And Yulia Comment On Moscow Gay Pride

Julia Volkova of t.A.T.u.

did an interview for Best For magazine, where the Russian pop duo were asked if they changed their attitude towards sexual minorities after their short participation in a Moscow Gay Pride event in May 2007, where many participants were arrested, and others assaulted in full view of the police. Lena Katina responded, “I’d say we changed our attitude towards ‘majorities’.” And Yulia Volkova added, “And not to the advantage of the latter. It’s a pity our country can hardly perceive the idea that each one has the right to be whoever he or she wants.”

The entire interview and pictures at tatu.ru have since been removed.
