A young woman from Stanly County is a finalist on ‘American Idol’. But before she ever made it to ‘Idol’, Kellie Pickler was a finalist in Channel 9’s ‘Gimme The Mike! Charlotte’ contest. February 23, 2006 - Levittown’s ‘American Idol’ contestant Kevin Covais was on the line with local pop radio station 106.1 WBLI in Long Island. The show’s geekiest looking contestant spoke with Steve Harper, Dana DiDonato, and Big Randy about getting phone numbers from girls on the show, how he is getting along with the other contestants, Paula Abdul’s jewelery gifts, and “being himself”.
