David Archuleta Asked About Stage Dad Jeff On ‘Larry King Live’
During David Archuleta’s appearance on ‘Larry King Live’ on Friday (May 23), Larry asked the ‘American Idol’ season seven runner-up whether his father Jeff was a problem for the show’s producers at all. “Well, we didn’t see the producers too much,” he said. “You know, I’d see them every now and then and then talk and stuff. But, you know, he was just - he was - he had to be there for guardian. I always had a guardian.”
Asked if Jeff was pushy, the 17-year-old responded, “You know, he always has his opinion about things. And, you know, a lot of times I’d (INAUDIBLE) what he - his suggestions. And I didn’t always, you know - you know, sometimes it’s like, oh, yes, that’s - you know, thanks for your advice, but, you know, I’m just going to go for this and stuff like that. You know, it’s just about taking risks and, you know, there are some things that I was kind of scared to try and I just went for it and it was, you know, a great learning experience.”
Later, Larry asked Archuleta if he and his father are close. “Oh, yes. Yes. You have to, to go through all this, you know, him having to always be there,” David responded. “He was my roommate so — well, I had Chikezie, too. And he was a good roommate too. But after Chikezie left, I just had my dad there.” Check out the entire transcript at CNN.com.
