Enrique Iglesias Visits Tonight Show Thursday
Enrique Iglesias was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday where he performed ‘Escape’ and spoke briefly with Jay Leno afterwards. Enrique gave his now standard line that he isn’t dating Anna Kournikova, but that he’d love to date her. Before he could speak though, he needed a drink of water, but most of it dribbled into his lap which got a big giggle from the crowd. Read on for a transcript.
Jay: How you been, buddy? Good to see you. Welcome back. [ Cheers
and applause ] all righty. I got to ask you — he can’t talk if you’re
yelling. Very nice job, thanks for coming back.
Enrique: Thanks.
Jay: I got to ask you about this video you did with Anna Kournikova.
Very sexy video.
Enrique: It’s a cool video.
Jay: It is a very cool video. You hear all these rumors, that you didn’t
want to kiss her. Do you know what I’m talking about?
Enrique: That’s not true.
Jay: Not true? This some water there if you want.
Enrique: Thank you. Sorry.
[ Cheers ]
Jay: The old dribble glass.
[ Laughter ]
Enrique: it was a fun video to shoot. We shot it with Dave Myers. It
was real great.
Jay: Are you guys dating?
Enrique: I wish. But no, we’re not. I wish. Who wouldn’t want to date
Anna Kournikova?
Jay: You’re just finishing the tour, right?
Enrique: Yeah, i finished the tour in North America and I’m going to
Europe in a few weeks.
Jay: How did it go? It went well, obviously?
Enrique: It went very well.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Jay: Female fans went nuts. So where do you go in Europe? Where are
you going?
Enrique: We’re going to a lot of places. France, the U.K., Germany.
Jay: Is it crazy with — you have 50 people —
Enrique: no — 50 people on the tour, but we have no security. My fans
are pretty — they’re good.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Jay: I want to ask you. You just did this movie “Once Upon a Time in
Mexico.”
Enrique: I did a small role in a Robert Rodriguez movie called “Once
Upon a Time In Mexico.” It’s a cool movie.
Jay: Do you like the acting? Is it fun?
Enrique: It was fun. It was a lot of fun. It took a lot of time to wake
up every single day at 5:00 in the morning, which kills me.
Jay: You wake up at 5:00? You go to bed at quarter to five. That’s got
to be tough. Do you want to do more acting?
Enrique: If it’s more roles like that. That I can do in between music.
Jay: It’s great. “Escape,” that’s the new CD. Always a pleasure to have
you, man. Thank you.
Enrique: Thank you so much.
