Billy Ray Cyrus Discusses Miley’s Vanity Fair Picture Scandal
Billy Ray Cyrus visited the ‘Today’ show on Tuesday (June 17), where the country singer talked about the controversy surrounding his daughter Miley Cyrus’ Vanity Fair photo spread, where the ‘Hannah Montana’ star appeared to be topless. “I wasn’t there when that picture was taken,” Cyrus told Meredith Vieira. “I had just finished a movie down in Florida. I flew in because Annie had asked that I come in and do a shot with Miley. I’d worked with her before, she’s a great lady. She’s just a good person and a great photographer. I had finished the film. I was actually scheduled to be in Washington state the next day to play for the troops returning from Iraq and the next day in Anchorage, Alaska. But they asked if I could stop by. So I flew into LA, did my picture with Miley, then I headed on up to Washington state to play for the troops. So I wasn’t there at the time, so I was surprised when I saw it. Again, stuff happens, you know. That’s life. Things happen and things get a little out of control and you’ve just gotta deal with life. It’s peaks and valleys and ups and downs.” Watch the segment below.
