Caryn Ganz On ‘American Idol’ Stars Commercial Failings
Only a handful of ‘American Idol’ finalists have achieved fame at a level worthy of their title. Music critic Caryn Ganz explains why to CBS News. Ganz suggested that the success of ‘Idol’ to spawn hit artists isn’t much better than artists signed by labels. She suggested that viewers develop a bond with the ‘Idol’ contestants during the show seeing them week after week, but once they’re off TV “you kind of forget about them, and they’re back on the same playing field as everybody else who is trying to become a pop star.” Watch the report below the cut.
Janice Min Discusses Cook ‘Upset’ In ‘American Idol’ Finale
May 23, 2008 - Janice Min, editor-in-chief of Us Weekly magazine, talked to ‘Today’ co-host Natalie Morales about David Cook’s win on ‘American Idol’ over David Archuleta. Min continued the meme that Cook’s win was an “upset”, despite the numbers from DialIdol.com and Tradesports.com both indicating that he was the favorite all along. “It was really one of the greatest upsets,” Min said. ‘Access Hollywood’ Talks With David Archuleta After ‘Idol’ Finale
May 23, 2008 - Shaun Robinson of ‘Access Hollywood’ caught up with David Archuleta on Wednesday night following the finale of ‘American Idol’, which saw him lose to David Cook. The teen said he wasn’t yet exhausted, but anticipated it following the round of press interviews he’d have to do. “I was planning on Cook winning,” Archuleta said. “I wanted to show people I’m giving it my all for this last final,” he added. Archuleta said Cook told him “I love you” when the pair embraced following Ryan Seacrest’s announcement that Cook had won. Watch the interview below.
