5 time Grammy winner Celine Dion told Regis and Kelly this morning that her 14 month old son , Rene Charles cries when she sings to him. Kelly said she thought “Wouldn’t it be great to have Celine Dion for a Mom and at bedtime she is singing you a bedtime song and that voice comes out instead of the normal one?” “That’s what I thought” joked Celine. “I don’t know why” Celine continued, “When he sees me on television when he sees pictures of me he cries.”
Celine said about Motherhood, “When you have this chance to become a Mom it’s so-like I have the chance to make a difference in someone’s life. I love to sing and it is wonderful that I travel the world and I can do what I love but when I come home and I can make a difference in his life, first step, first tooth, first nightmare -“
Kelly Ripa asked Celine, “Were you very glad that you took that time off?”
Dion answered, “Not only glad Kelly, it was a must. -We needed it as a balance. We wanted to have a little bit of a normal life. My husband got diagnosed 3 years ago with cancer, we wanted to have a baby, we wanted to be with each other and we wanted to have a normal life to be with each other. Working for 20 something years which is great we did wonderful things we have accomplished wonderful things together but it was time to just say let me take two years off, play golf, have a baby, I want to be with you and I want to fight this with you. It was a must for us to do that and I am so glad that I did.”
Regis then showed Celine’s “Where Does My Heart Beat Now” performance from May 24, 1991.
Celine sang her new single “A New Day Has Come” for the audience.
