Christina Aguilera Issues Statement After Super Bowl National Anthem Error
Christina Aguilera admitted to messing up the the National Anthem at the start of last night’s Super Bowl. “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of it’s anthem still came through,” the 30-year-old said in a statement issued afterward.
Aguilera was supposed to sing the line “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming,” but ended up repeating an earlier line except with a slight variation including a word in the missed line. She sang “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming.” After ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ error, she did manage to finish it off correctly and the ending was in sync with the flyover.
