Mandi Perkins: Heath Ledger’s Death Prompts Somber Sundance

Mandi Perkins checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace (@mandiperkins) on Wednesday (January 23). She writes:

Hey Guys:

Yesterday I had my acoustic BMI show at the Sundance Film Festival…

While it was really fun out here in beautiful Park City for most of the day, the whole night was tempered with the very sad news about Heath Ledger.

A lot of actors/directors/writers and crew here were friends with him (and they all said he was a really kind guy) so it became a pretty sobering atmosphere at a lot of venues.

Such a young & talented life; so much loss.

Mandi Perkins: I Feel Terrible For Britney Spears

Mandi Perkins, recently signed to Sony BMG, weighed in on the latest troubles happening with Britney Spears in her blog at MySpace (@mandiperkins) on Friday (January 4). Perkins writes:

Is it just me, or is the whole Britney Spears debacle really upsetting? I actually really feel terrible for her. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have accomplished in this life… to see anybody have so many personal problems is absolutely crushing.

Not a day goes by that there isn’t something on the front of Yahoo or in the pages of a magazine chronicling the dark spiral that has become Britney. I’ve tried my best to ignore it, but it’s really hard to not watch. It’s that sudden jerk reaction when you see a car accident or a scary as hell movie - you want to turn away, but are compelled by some unknown instinct to keep watching. You don’t want to see, don’t want to watch what happens next, but you look anyway.

There are a million opinions on Britney: She’s a good parent given a bad rap/she’s a bad parent getting her due/she’s a lip synching performer showing her true lack of talent/she’s a brilliant performer using all the attention as a platform to stage a huge comeback… Whatever. The thing is, once you’ve seen a 1000 accidents or 1000 movies, you stop feeling the same urgency; it becomes part of the ordinary and therefore, really unspectacular. & that is the saddest part of all.

Hey Guys:

The second day of recording went really well.

The new music is sounding completely sick and I can’t wait to release it.

So soon…so soon!!!

I have some more amazing musicians working with me this time around:

Greg Suran on guitar (Jewel, GooGoo Dolls, Sunny Day Real Estate);

Victor Indrizzo on the drums (Beck, Willy Nelson, Red Cross and on pretty much every other record you’ve heard in the past 10 years);

& on bass, is Scott Shriner from the band “Weezer”. He was kind enough to help with my second daily video journal (a.k.a. “The Daily Vj”).

You can check out the footage on my page now.

Hope you have a great night!

Send me a comment when you can. I love those!!

Mandi Perkins Outlines Digital Album Release Plans

Mandi Perkins posted the following bulletin to her fans on MySpace on Thursday (June 28): “Hey Guys. Just got back from tour… with very exciting news! I’m going to do a crazy digital distribution of my debut album, ‘Bleeding The Line…’ starting July 10th, when I’ll put the whole album up on Myspace. It will closely be followed with release on iTunes and other major online digital distributors, and it will all coincide with the worldwide release of my first music video and dance remix of ‘Condemned’. So pretty much we have been gearing up for a serious viral invasion; which actually doesn’t sound all that dope. I think we need a new word for viral! I have a ton of new pictures from the West Coast tour, which I’ll post soon… and a new blog about it all on my page, so check it out when you can. Hope everyone is having a great week! Rock mp”
