Keisha Buchanan Forced Out Of Sugababes

After mentioning Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range followed each other on Twitter but neither followed Keisha Buchanan, and after Keisha had talked about the band twice with News of the World, there was a feeling something was in the works. Today, Keisha confirmed that she has left the group she helped begin, and not of her own will. Keisha told her Twitter followers earlier today:

Dear Friends I’m sad to say that I am no longer apart of the Sugababes.
I’ve had a great time and have achieved more then I ever thought I would.
Although it was not my choice to leave, it’s time to enter a new chapter in my life I have nothing but positive things to say about the girls and I wish them the best of luck.
I would like to state that there were no arguments, bullying or anything of the sort that lead to this.
Sometimes a break down in communication and lack of trust can result in many different things.
I would also like to point out that I have always supported the girls and they have also supported me.
Remember my drunk pictures out with Amelle, supporting her on her success with Tinchy Stryder… Oh the shame… But what a fun night we had
Now I’m going to take some time to focus on me. I’ve been in this band for 11 years and I have achieved so much.
I have a great family and friends who are behind me 100% and at the age of 24, I’m now going out into this world on my own…
Although im nervous… I’m still very excited on what lies ahead. :-)
I want to thank the Sugababes fans and my fans for all your support and all who have never judged me, but accepted me for who I am…
The feisty, funny, professional, fearless, motor mouth… lol
This is not the end… but the beginning!!!!

Mutya Doesn’t Think Amelle Is Quitting Sugababes

Amelle Berrabah has reportedly quit the Sugababes - the third person to do so over the years. But one of those ex members, Mutya Buena, tells ITN she doesn’t believe it. “I don’t think they are breaking up. It’s just good publicity,” Mutyra remarked at a charity event for Ndoro Children’s Charities in London on Thursday. She added that reports her former bandmate Keisha Buchanan is a bully in the group weren’t what it was like when she was with the Sugababes. “I would not say Keisha is a bully, I never left because of her,” Mutya insisted. Keisha Buchanan: Jade Ewen Isn’t Replacing Amelle Berrabah

Keisha Buchanan tells News of the World that the Sugababes will continue on with Amelle Berrabah, denying reports Jade Ewen is set to replace her. “It’s not true she’s joining,” Keisha told Dan Wootton. “She’s a friend of mine but no, I’m not a liar. It’s completely false, that’s the honest to God truth. One hundred percent.” Keisha added that she, Heidi Range and Amelle are currently in Los Angeles recording the video for their new single.

Interestingly, Heidi and Amelle follow each other on their respective Twitter accounts, but neither follow Keisha. For Keisha’s part, she follows neither Heidi or Amelle.

Keisha Buchanan Blasts Claims She’s Bullying Amelle Berrabah

Keisha Buchanan of Sugababes checked in with her Twitter followers (@keisha_buchanan) on Friday (September 11), following news her bandmate Amelle Berrabah had gone missing from the group, apparently telling her bandmates she was tending to a friend who had been injured in a car crash. Keish suggested management should have the police check up on her, but when they did, they found she had been at home the entire time. In a series of Tweets, Keisha writes:

Why the fu** have I just woken up in LA to 25 phone calls of people telling me that I’m in the paper today for a completely made up story about me bullying Amelle, not being supportive, blah blah blah. I’ve let the papers tell lies about me when it comes to stories like that in the past, I’ve let members talk crap about me and tried to laugh it off because I know the truth, my friends, family and MOST of all GOD. But not anymore. I may come across as a hard nut sometimes, but I’m actually really sensitive and it destroys me to think that people today are going to read that and believe it. I feel like no one EVER bothers to look deep into the Sugababes story…
They see me as the longest standing member and assume that I’m the bitch who causes people to walk, and it’s totally untrue and unfair. All I’ve ever done is work my ass off, trying to keep the dream alive, because I love the fans and my job. I don’t give a sh** about being famous, we’re all on the same level. I’ve always put this band before me and never thought that I was bigger than it… it’s a great team effort…
TRUTH: I’m going to say that its fair to say in the 1st line up that there were arguments, certain parents were involved then callin shots which caused a lot of sh**. And with the current line up, I can honestly say that we all get along! I’m sure we bug each other at times, but I love them girls. And there has NEVER been bullying in Sugababes EVER! I don’t know what to do anymore… I’ll take a lie detector test to prove everything if I have to. I’m sick of this:-( I’m so crushed guys, but I know God is under control, so I’ll be down today, but I’m a strong girl & will get back up. All I ask is for u not to judge me please, but get to know my heart, give me a chance and don’t believe what you have heard/read about me. I understand that some people are not going to like me & they might believe it and that’s fine because I know that God is my judge and I don’t hate u for it. But to those of you that are supporting me thank you so so… Much, I promise you that I am telling the truth and I won’t let you down. Wow history repeats… This hurts. Thanks again Love kay x

Sugababes Thank Fans For ‘Get Sexy’ Support

September 4, 2009 - Sugababes sent out a message to fans, talking about the feedback they’ve received from them via Twitter about their new single ‘Get Sexy’ and the appearances they’ve made promoting the release.

“It’s nice that you guys are still supporting us, and have done for a long time,” Keisha Buchanan says. “Also as well we’d like to say all these other little sites that you’re on as far as Facebook and ebo and all these other things pretending to be us. It’s really strange but it’s not us at all.”

If Sugababes Could Be Any Animal

August 29, 2009 - The latest fan submitted question to Sugababes asked the British girl group if they could be any animal, which would they choose. Keisha Buchanan said a horse, while Amelle Berrabah said she’d definitely be a cheetah, and Heidi Range selected a dolphin.

“If I could be any animal, I think horses are really beautiful, they can have really shiny coats,” Keisha said. Amelle continued, “I’d definitely be a cheetah. I just love the many ways they’d be free and roam the jungle.” Heidi then said, “I voted to be a fish. Let me be a dolphin and you’re just free. You can go to any country. You could just swim your way there.”

Sugababes On Their Most Embarrassing Moments

August 28, 2009 - Keisha Buchanan, Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range of Sugababes revealed the most embarrassing thing they’ve done on stage in a MySpace video in response to a fan’s question.

Keisha talked about how falling on stage is usually the most embarrassing thing, with Heidi offering a specific instance of falling down the stairs in the middle of a blackout. After the lights came back on, she was on all fours and had to perform the rest of the show with scraped up knees.

“I fell down the stairs on tour in the middle of a blackout, it was tumbling,” Range said. “We then had to go straight into a ballad, and the girls were (laughing). Then the lights went on and I was on all fours on the stairs.”

Heidi Range And Amelle Berrabah Sidelined With The Flu

Sugababes star Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah are sidelined due to the flu, though the pair have not specified if they’re suffering from swine flu. A message on the British girl group’s MySpace (@sugababesofficial) stated:

Heidi and Amelle are suffering with a severe bout of flu. They’ve been instructed to take at least a week off before a reassessment and so will unfortunately be out of action for at least the next 7 days.

Heidi herself had this to say on her Twitter (@Heidi_Range):

Thanks for your lovely messages. Getting lots of rest on my sofa and thinking this would be a good time to start the Sopranos collection x

Keisha Buchanan Previews Sugababes’ 7th Album

June 18, 2009 - Keisha Buchanan updated fans on her Twitter page (@keisha_buchanan) on Thursday (June 18) with details on the Sugababes upcoming album, which will be their first CD released in the U.S. Keisha writes:

Hi guys, im getting loads of messages about what us babes are up to with the new album… Here goes xxx….
We have the first single, which I think sounds AMAZING… It’s very different to what we have done in the past, which always works for us.. I can’t say what it sounds like lol Or who produced it lol… BUT I think we’ll get some new fans from it which is always nice :-)
The album itself was great to make because we met so many amazing people and producers & heard loads of gossip lol…(another secret) Ne-Yo has written songs, Stargate, Red One, Makeba who does alot with Beyonce, James Fauntleroy who did Justin & Ciara’s ‘Love Sex & Magic’.
So many amazing and talented people :-) And I can honestly say that they were all lovely and so nice to us :-)… The album has no title yet but I’m loving your ideas :-) I think it will be the best album we’ve done in this line up for sure… We are all so excited and can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. Dates are not confirmed yet, but it won’t be long :-) In fact, we are looking at video treatments for the first single already so it wont be long :-) Thanks for your support and questions xxx Spread the word!!! lol

Overflowing Bathtub Leaves Sleeping Keisha Buchanan Red-Faced

Sugababes checked in with fans on their Twitter, talking about some new material they played for someone at Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s label the British pop trio recently signed on to. They write:

We had a great day today meeting new amazing producers and writers. We then played 1 of our new boss’s our tracks & he LOVED it! Thankfully.
We then went on to have dinner at one of Jay-Z’s spots called the “Spotted Pig” lol It had a British feel to it :-) We cant wait for….

Amelle Berrabah Dumps Freddie Fuller

News of the World reports Amelle Berrabah of Sugababes has dumped her longtime boyfriend Freddie Fuller, a relationship that survived accusations that Freddie date raped Amelle’s younger sister and a machete attack in December 2007 that nearly severed Fuller’s arm off. “They’ve had a fairly troubled relationship,” a friend of Amelle told Dan Wootton. “Amelle will look back on their time together with a lot of fond memories and affection for Freddie but she knows it’s time to move on.”

March 12, 2009 - Sugababes updated fans on their blog at MySpace (@sugababesofficial) on March 11, reacting to reports that due to slow sales of their latest album ‘Catfights And Spotlights’ they were going to take an indefinite extended break. The British pop trio said in a statement:

Following on from a recent report in one of last week’s Sunday newspapers that we are splitting up, we are happy to let you know that this is completely untrue!!
Actually, nothing could be further from the truth!

Are Sugababes Taking An “Indefinite Extended Break”?

News of the World hears that the Sugababes are taking an extended hiatus following poor sales of their latest album ‘Catfights And Spotlights’. “They haven’t ruled out getting back together in a year but they’re officially on an indefinite extended break,” a source told Dan Wootton. “They want to say goodbye to their loyal fans with a farewell tour.”

Sugababes Clarify Brits Boycott Talk

November 28, 2008 - Sugababes Heidi Range, Keisha Buchanan and Amelle Berrabah spoke with ITN on reports they’re to boycott the Brit Awards next year.

“This Brits story has been taken way out of context,” Buchanan insisted, suggesting that the fans should have input on who wins “more so than people behind a desk making all the decisions.”

Amelle added that their comments were “more of a joking way we said it, it was very light-hearted.”

November 18, 2008 - The Mirror spoke with Sugababes at The Hospital club in London’s Covent Garden, where the pop trio talked about repeatedly being snubbed by the Brit Awards, despite a career that has seen the group sell 5.5 million albums, get six #1 singles, and a chance to visit British PM Gordon Brown. “I say this in the most humble way but when you think of pop bands the Sugababes are definitely up there,” Keisha Buchanan argued. “I’m proud that Gordon Brown is recognizing us, but why not the Brits? We’re British for God’s sake and we’ve done well. Surely we deserve an award after all the hard work we’ve done?”

Sugababes Help Switch On Oxford Street Christmas Lights

November 13, 2008 - Pop trio Sugababes joined ‘X Factor’ contestants and ‘Gossip Girl’ star Chace Crawford along London’s famous Oxford Street for the big Christmas light switch-on. “It will be funny when we come here shopping after today and we look at the lights and go, ‘Oh, we switched them on’,” Heidi Range told ITN. “It’s almost like the start of Christmas for us, so it’s really good.” Watch the clip below.
