Taylor Hicks Mourns Loss Of Bandmate Matt Kimbrell
Taylor Hicks and his band issued a statement on Monday (October 18) following the death of Matt Kimbrell, 51, who played drums on tour with the ‘American Idol’ champ:
There are no words to express the sudden loss of our brother. He was a great friend, teacher, and purveyor of the musical spirit and creativity.
His legacy is a gift that will live on through all of us!
Matt Kimbrell 1959-2010
Matt was well respected, loved & such a talented musician. He will be sorely missed.
I’m grateful Taylor & the band celebrated Matt’s birthday in a heart-warming fashion; with the lit birthday cupcake. How special this must have been for Matt.
God surround His loved ones with peace & cherished memories.?
Matt and I were close as kids…We played baseball together..High School…neighbors and musicians…I thought of him often although we rarely spoke after I moved away…i had nothing but respect for you my friend…We were all richer humans for knowing you in this life..
Loved the extra grove Matt’s instrument talent brought to the music we heard all summer as Taylor Hicks and his band toured the country and Matt Kimbrell was a pleasant and vibrant part of this new tone. I’ll miss his smiling face, his intensity, and the way he grooved to the music as he prepared to enter a song.
Thanks for the music Matt. RIP.
Matt we will miss you
I’ve known Matt since we were teenagers, and I’ve played in bands with Matt and Leif B.. I’ve been so happy that both of them had a chance to play in Taylor. Matt was a good friend and a incredible musician, and he will be missed.
