‘The Daily Show’ Examines ‘Dukes Of Hazzard’ Boycott

‘The Daily Show’ correspondent Stephen Colbert profiled Hollywood’s cheapening of ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’, featuring critical remarks from Ben ‘Cooter’ Jones and some male fans who disagree with Jones.

“This movie does not reflect the culture of the heartland of America,” Jones said. “It doesn’t reflect all of our families watching our good clean family show. I’m calling for a boycott of the movie.”

Jones added, “It mocks the values of the original show, which are family values.”

As for those who want to boycott the movie for the confederate flag, Jones said, “Most people understand this flag and that it means different things to different people and in this case, it’s a very positive thing about the spirit of the south.”

This is great, I get to comment after eight years; and yet I recall this being displayed on another site. You’ve kept up the good work, Jon and Stephen. Man, I was still in my forties then! The movie made a splash and was nowhere near as corrosive to the memory of the original Dukes as many had feared.
