Amy Macdonald, Kate Nash & Duffy Hope For ’08 U.S. Breakthrough

Billboard profiled some female UK artists hoping to copy the success of singer/songwriters such as Amy Winehouse, KT Tunstall and Corinne Bailey Rae with American releases in 2008. “I’m always going to take it as a compliment because I’m being compared to some of the most successful women in music,” said of comparisons to fellow Scottish artist Tunstall. “But we all have our different sound.” Macdonald is set to release ‘This Is The Life’ stateside in the summer. “I’ve worked hard at this for the past five years of my life,” Macdonald said. “The good thing is that people feel they’ve discovered me for themselves.”
