Carly Rae Jepsen talks about her American Music Awards win for Favorite New Artist and her favorite 'Call Me Maybe' parodies

was backstage at VEVO Lounge at the 2012 American Music Awards, where she talked about winning New Artist of the Year at the event, some of the favorite ‘Call Me Maybe’ video parodies she has seen and how often she talks with her mother while on the road.

Asked how it felt to get an AMA Award, the Canadian pop singer said, “Like amazing, and very, very shocking. It was a wonderful moment.”

As for whether she has one or two ‘Call Me Maybe’ parodies that she loves, Carly responded, “Yeah, there’s a few I love, love. Number one, love Katy Perry’s, because I’m a big Katy Perry fan. Justin Bieber’s of course, because the fact that it was awesome and it really was the trigger of the whole thing, and the Cookie Monster, #3.”

Discussing how often she talks with her mother on the road, Jepsen said, “Probably like once a week. It’s not nearly enough. That’s why I’m looking forward to Christmas, because we get some actual quality down time. Twice a week.”
