‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’ Opening Day Box Office: $17.2 Million

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Miley Cyrus’ new film ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’ is doing better than expected this Easter weekend, pulling in an estimated $17.2 million on its first day in theaters Friday. Showing in 3,118 theaters, the Disney Channel TV series spinoff should pass Miley’s 2008 3D concert movie ‘Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour’, which earned $31.1 million its opening weekend. The one day figure puts it on the top of the box office, taking out last week’s #1, ‘Fast & Furious’.

Marc Malkin of E! video blogged about today being the day for Miley Cyrus’ new film ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’ hitting theaters. Malkin said the film was “really good” and referred to it as “pure bubble gum, candy and ice cream rolled into one. Lindsay Lohan On The Set Of ‘Labor Pains’

‘Entertainment Tonight’ went behind the scenes of Lindsay Lohan’s new film ‘Labor Pains’, co-starring Cheryl Hines and Chris Parnell.

Asked what it was like to wear a fake belly and act like a pregnant woman, Lohan responded, “It’s alarming in a way - you think about all the things that come with being pregnant, and that’s kind of scary, especially for me at 22.”

Talking about the film’s plot, Lohan explained, “The drama comes in this film where Thea decides to lie about being pregnant, and when her stomach pops and she has to deal with all of the things that she’s created.”

Discussing one of her co-stars in the Stacy Kramer penned plot, Lindsay said, “There is Cheryl Hines, who plays Lisa, who is a friend of mine at work and someone that I kind of turn to to vent and we always meet in the bathroom stall to talk about what’s going on in life. It comes as a surprise to her that I faked the pregnancy because she wasn’t aware of it before and she kind of helps me through everything.”

Missy Higgins Terrified But Honored To Join ‘Brand New Dae’ Cast

Missy Higgins is returning home to Australia to begin filming a feature film adaptation of cult musical ‘Brand New Dae’. The singer songwriter will play the character of Annie alongside Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush as Father Benedictus, Ernie Dingo as Tadpole & Dan Sultan as Lester in the movie, set in the summer of 1967.

“Broome holds a special place in my heart so this opportunity felt like something I just couldn’t pass up on,” Higgins said. “I fell in love with all the characters when I read the script, ecspecially my character (Annie) who is a hilarious hippie. Being my first go at acting I’m a bit terrified but I feel very honored to be working alongside such an incredible cast and crew and I know it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

‘High School Musical 3’ Graduation Felt Real To Vanessa Hudgens

Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and the gang are back for another helping of squeaky clean Disney fun. Vanessa Hudgens spoke with ITN about the big screen flick. “I feel we really stepped it up a notch with ‘High School Musical 3’,” she said. “But the musical number that meant the most to me was a song at the very end called ‘High School Musical’. It was the very first time to wear a cap and a gown because I was home schooled. It just meant a lot, because it didn’t feel like we were only graduating in the movie, it felt like we were graduating from ‘High School Musical’ itself, so it was very emotional.” The clip, also featuring Zac Efron talking about kissing Vanessa in the movie, has since been removed at YouTube.

‘High School Musical 3’ Premieres In Los Angeles

Fans are excited over the highly anticipated Disney film ‘High School Musical 3′, which had its premiere in Los Angeles. CBS News’ Hattie Kauffman was on hand, talking with the film’s stars. Asked how sad it was at graduation as the show’s stars prepare to move on, Vanessa Hudgens responded, “Just way too emotional. I mean just horrible, I could not stop crying.” Ashley Tisdale added, “We were crying hysterically. It’s definitely something we’ll always remember for the rest of our lives.”
